Liquidzigong has released his own custom firmware for PSP-2000 TA088v3 (2000v3) & PSP-3000 models. Really it’s more an add-on as the majority of files that make up this CFW are from 5.03 GEN-C. That said, installation is like this:

1. Install ChickHEN (or MHUSpeed);
2. Install Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-C;
3. Extract the Prometheus 5.03 files to ms0:/PSP/GAME;
4. Start the installer; Follow the on-screen instructions (press X to install).

Now you can run all the latest and greatest 6.20-required title...

The scoop: All right… So we’re in #psp-hacks live chat testing things out, discussing, you know… PSP-2000 (Slim) — bang on; Yoshihiro, my sincerest. PSP-1000 (Phat) — something’s a little off… The PSP-1000, under System Information, reports 5.50 GEN-D (Full), while the Slim is sayin’ 5.50 GEN-D3. At least for me it is. On the 1000 you may experience other odd behaviour too. I can’t speak for 5.03 GEN-C and 2000v3/3000, but feel free to leave your comments below.

Must’ve missed this one… An update for PSPVC — Nick Swardh’s PSP Video Converter — has been released. Now at version 3.91, and as of 3.90, PSPVC includes a new section for decrypting and ripping DVDs. You will need DVD Decrypter (freeware) installed too. Version 3.91 is a bug fix release.

By now you know what it is: Prometheus v0.4. Play 6.20-required games on the CFW of today. Liquidzigong has again updated his PRX / EBOOT.BIN combo adding MGSPW support… I think; I’m not entirely clear on the translation. Maybe someone else can provide a better one.

Anyway, the instructions remain the same, except for KHBBS, MGSPW, and PSP-3000 models… Use the appropriate prometheus.prx and EBOOT.BIN for the mentioned titles and model; for everything else, use the other files.

Don’t call it a comeback. No, for real… Red Squirrel returns from the burrows to drop a quick homebrew app then vanishes into the wilderness, again. The tool is D2-D3 Switcher, which as the name suggests, switches between custom firmware 5.50 GEN-D2 and GEN-D3, real easy like. Load the app; select the appropriate CFW version; exit and do whatever you need to.
